The new varioPrint joins the company’s two existing ColorStream webfed inkjet presses, with the new addition expected to improve the company’s productivity, economic efficiency and environmental impact.

Michael Lever, managing director of the family-owned operation, said, “We extensively reviewed the market to find the best technology fit for our requirements and the iX3200 met all our needs. A major contributing factor in our decision-making process was the service and support offering from Canon. As we had already experienced the high level of service support from the Canon team with our ColorStream presses, it made further sense to go forward with the iX3200.”

Lever said the investment in the Canon varioPrint iX3200 made economic sense for BSG Australia, with a cutsheet press the clear solution to improving efficiency, and therefore profitability, on short-to-medium run length projects.

According to Canon, the varioPrint iX-series offers automation and multiple efficiency features that support printers in saving labour costs and reducing maintenance activity, resulting in an improved return on investment and cost efficiencies.

The foundation of the varioPrint iX-series is an integration of innovative technologies that make it possible to transport a wide range of media, and print at high speeds with image quality. With approaching 300 installations of the varioPrint iX-series worldwide since its release in 2020, Canon claims it is one of the most successful sheetfed inkjet presses on the market.

According to Canon Production Printing Oceania managing director, Craig Nethercott, the varioPrint iX-series provides “significant” advantages for commercial Printers interested in improving profits.

He said, “Commercial Printers can now say yes to virtually any order, with confidence that print quality is flawless, media options are vast, and quick turnarounds are no problem. Customers wanting to offer the broadest portfolio of high-quality applications now have a sheetfed inkjet press that helps them to grow their volumes, as well as manage smaller, more diverse jobs flexibly and profitably.”

On BSG’s environmental goals and the role of the Canon iX3200, Lever said “We are committed to reducing the impact our business has on the environment. To improve our sustainability practices, we’re moving away from toner-based machines and towards inkjet. That’s another reason why we went with the Canon iX3200.”

The water-based iX inks deliver odourless prints and no hazardous disposables for minimal environment impact. With its sheetfed inkjet technology, the iX-series has no ozone emission, no matter how many millions of prints roll out of the machine.

BSG was established by the Lever family, and is well known throughout the Australasian leisure and hospitality industry. It was founded by Keith Lever with a modest beginning, being operated from under his family home. In 1977 his son Dennis along with wife Pam were handed the baton, dedicating three decades to growing the business from a back yard operation to a multifaceted business. Today, BSG remains owned and operated by the Lever family.

It supplies a host of products, producing premium quality bingo tickets, raffle tickets, break-open cards, scratch cards, club print, sports tickets, as well as electronic bingo equipment, and industry-specific software programmes.

The company only uses recycled paper for all its printing.
