Epson says the new SC-S7160 is designed to deliver “outstanding image quality, productivity, ease of use and reliability at a minimal cost.” It will make its Australian debut on Epson stand C48 at PacPrint next month.

The SC-S7160 is a four-colour eco-solvent printer which comes with Epson’s advanced 1.33-inch-wide PrecisionCore Micro TFP printhead, which Epson says facilitates faster printing, and wider print width in a single pass, with an increase in the number of nozzles from 360 to 400.

The SureColor S7160 uses a larger four-colour UltraChrome GS3 800ml ink pouch system, enabling prints on a variety of media types, including vinyl, canvas, film, wallpaper, and other roll media up to 1626mm wide.

The transition from 700 ml cartridges to 800 ml ink bags reduces the frequency of ink replacement, while being 84 per cent lighter and generating 91 per cent less waste per bag, aligning with Epson's sustainability goals.

The SureColor S7160 includes an advanced auto tension control system and a reinforced media feed roller for “high-precision” media feeding. Built on a proven, “robust” chassis with an accurate media feed system, the printer also incorporates an air circulation system that removes ink mist, capturing it in filters.

According to Epson, a printhead guard helps prevent media crashes, while a new automatic head cleaning system ensures consistent performance.

The S7160 also has several other key functions, including a carriage temperature sensor that quickly detects temperature differences, allowing for accurate temperature compensation to minimise colour variations. Epson says this feature maintains uniformity between the beginning and end of longer print jobs, compensating for changes in ink temperature and nozzle surfaces caused by the platen heater.

Its 4.3-inch user-oriented interface and touchpad allow users to “easily” manage ink levels and other functions while its LED lighting feature improves visibility during printing operations, allowing users to monitor the status of the printer.

“Epson continues to expand its signage lineup to meet the diverse demands of the market. The SureColor S7160 is a perfect solution for businesses seeking a cost-effective and high-quality signage solution for low-to-medium production volumes” said Shuhei Sato, product manager – Professional Print Solutions at Epson Australia.

To further optimise productivity and profitability, the SureColor S7160 integrates with Epson’s management tools, including Epson Edge Print Pro rip software and Epson Cloud Solution Port, which provides comprehensive reporting, tracking, and cost analysis, in order, says Epson, to help businesses streamline operations.

The SureColor S7160 eco-solvent printer is expected to ship in Australia and New Zealand in the middle of the year.
