Kyocera unveils high-performance inkjet printhead for labels and packaging

New Kyocera circulating inkjet printhead KJ4A-EX600RC-HX for white ink, varnish and foil decoration for faster, more versatile printing on labels and packaging.

Kyocera Corporation has announced it will launch a KJ4A-EX600RC-HX circulating inkjet printhead for label and packaging printing in November, which supports white ink, varnish ink, and foil decoration.

The company says by accommodating a wider range of ink viscosities and enabling high-speed printing, the new product addresses the increasing demand for diverse decorative effects in the label and packaging market.

Produced at Kyocera’s Kirishima Plant in Kagoshima, Japan, the new printhead uses the company’s proprietary flowpath design technology to circulate ink near the nozzle. This prevents ink components from settling or drying out while maintaining a uniform ink temperature, says the company, and ensures stable ink ejection, even with high-viscosity and pigment-based inks. It’s also designed to reduce maintenance requirements during restarts, including printhead cleaning.

The company says that by expanding the compatible ink viscosity range from 6-7 mPa·s in previous models to 8-11 mPa·s, the new printhead accommodates a broader range of inks and allows additional digital printing applications, including diverse printing techniques and the reproduction of special textures.

Kyocera also says that the drive frequency, which controls ink droplet ejection timing, has doubled from 20kHz in the previous KJ4A-AL model to 40kHz. This higher frequency enables speeds of up to 100m/min, placing the KJ4A-EX600RC-HX among Kyocera’s highest-productivity UV ink-compatible printheads.
