Gallus to grow digital label printing
Label press manufacturer Gallus has sold its Swiss manufacturing site, but will continue to base its digital label business in the St Gallen premises, in which it will also create a new customer experience centre, as it seeks to grow the business.
Some 160 staff work at the 20,000sqm site, which will now be developed into a new business campus, with Gallus as the anchor tenant, and from where Gallus will expand its range of digital label print systems.
The new Heidelberg CEO Dr Ludwin Monz said, "With targeted investments in the Gallus Group, we want to gain further momentum in the growing label market.
"The reorientation of our site in St Gallen into a competence centre for digital label printing underlines the high strategic importance for Heidelberg in the packaging sector. We welcome the creation of an innovative environment in St Gallen, from which we can also benefit."
The sale of the site follows the similar sale of parent company Heidelberg’s sale of its main Wiesloch-Walldorf site, which it also remained in as a tenant.
Gallus manufactures its conventional label printing systems in Langgons, Germany.
