ABC flips old Snap press
Snap Print and Design Mona Vale sold an old Fuji Xerox printer to ABC Copier Solutions at PrintEx, and ABC will now give it a new lease of life elsewhere in the world.
Nigel Moss of Snap Mona Vale was happy to seal the deal with ABC to clear space for a new incoming Versant 180 press from Fuji Xerox.
Moss said, “The existing press had reached end of life as far as we were concerned – it was an old machine. ABC comes in and they take it away, so that frees up the floor space for the new machine to come in.
“It makes me grateful to know someone is going to get some use out of it – and someone is also paying us to take it away rather than the other way around,” he said.
According to Jaxon Crocker, director of ABC Copier Solutions, his company buys second-hand equipment in Australia, refurbishes it, and then sells it on to printers overseas.
“From an environmental point of view, we recycle the presses. They’re shipped all over the world, based mainly in Singapore. From there they go to Thailand, Vietnam, all sorts of places.
“We go in, take the machine away, strip it down, do everything professionally and correctly. We give new life to equipment that otherwise would have ended up in landfill,” he said.
Crocker told Print21 that the deal was good news for ABC as well, and Snap had been an excellent partner to work with.
“Nigel’s been excellent – he saw it from an environmental point of view. He wanted to know the machine was being recycled correctly, so we organised the pickup, and everything went smoothly,” he said.
