Australia’s first Mark Andy P5 flexo goes to Perth printer
Australia’s first Mark Andy Performance Series P5 version flexographic press to be installed locally has been claimed by Perth-based print provider, LabelForce.
Taking place just before Christmas, the installation marks the first sale for supplier, Aldus Engineering of the P5 model in the Australian market, and the fifth P series press to be sold locally. More than 100 of the P series presses have been sold worldwide since their release just over two years ago.
This latest installation of the 430mm wide, eight colour P5 (pictured) compliments the Mark Andy 2200 servo flexo press that was purchased by the printer at Pacprint, Melbourne in 2009.
The freshly installed P5 press includes many of the features of its big brother the P7, including servo drives, a unique quick change print head and short web path, and is equipped with full GEW ebrick UV drying, chilled impression rolls, and Rotometrics tooling.
According to Aldus Engineering’s general manager, Ian Guanaria, LabelForce chose the P5 over its competitors because of its quick change features and low make ready costs, as well as its minimal material waste.
LabelForce reported that, although the press has been operational only since December 2011, it has already exceeded the performance of the Mark Andy 2200 the company has owned for over two years.
