Craig Pearce, MD of Launceston commercial print house Flying Colours, has resigned from the board of the Printing Industries Association of Australia (PIAA) to focus on his business interests.

Pearce was appointed to the PIAA board in 2015 and later became its Honorary Secretary. He will leave the board immediately.

“While I accepted the appointments with relish, the reality of balancing the demands of my business and the commitment to the industry has proven too great," he said. "I am faced with focusing on the very real growth opportunities at Flying Colours or allowing my love of the industry to dictate the success of my business.

“I absolutely enjoyed the relationships I developed during my term and am pleased I was able to make a contribution. The inescapable fact is, a full on commitment to the industry, and the board in particular, is demanding. The board has taken some very positive steps and is on the verge of announcing new strategies and updates on existing strategies. The time contribution of board members should not be underestimated. While I commend anyone who might wish to be involved at board level, my situation highlights the level of commitment which might be required”.

PIAA Acting President, Kieran May thanked Pearce for his important contribution.

“In the short time Craig was on the Board, he made a very positive impact," said May. "The time involved in taking care of Association business can be extraordinary, particularly in an executive role. Sometimes, even with the best of intentions, something has to give. I commend Craig for his courage in his announcement and thank him for his significant contribution."

May said a successor will be appointed as soon as possible.

"Anyone from Tasmania who is prepared to make the commitment and feels he or she has something to offer, can let me know through the Association. Expressions of interest can be sent to tfa@piaa.org.au"
