Imaging giant Canon is releasing a new technology-packed digital colour print system, the imagePress C910, aimed at small commercial printers, copyshops and franchises.
The C910 comes in three versions defined by speed, with the 70ppm C710, the 80ppm C810, and the 90ppm C910. It succeeds the C850 series, which Canon defined as its “workhorse” colour printer. Canon says the C910 incorporates advanced technologies in a compact footprint, and can be used for a wide variety of applications from business cards to brochures to banners to 6pp A4 auto duplex prints.
"Canon has used its expertise in imaging, colour science and workflow to build a digital press that improves on the original workhorse, the imagePress C850," says Ted Matsumoto, general manager, product and planning, Canon Business Australia. "With the new imagePress C910 Series, we now support long banner sheet printing up to 1300mm in width, enhanced colour and image quality, and the ability to print on media up to 350gsm."
The updated series includes a range of new finishing options and extended media support to further increase application flexibility. Finishing options include double punching on tabloid size sheets to help maximise productivity, and a new compact, robust inline booklet maker.
It offers an open Document Finishing Device (DFD) adapter and bridge interface that allows for third party finishing to connect to the Canon Staple/Booklet Finisher-W1, for corner stapling and advanced in-line finishing.
It supports media up to 350gsm to help print service providers expand the range of media offerings for applications such as business cards and direct mail.
User can choose either the Canon PrismaSync front end, or EFI Fiery, to drive the press.
According to Canon the imagePress C910 colour digital press series is engineered to help print service providers meet today's challenging demands and tight deadlines. The company says the colour press “reflects the synergy of intuitive operation and embedded colour controls, allowing for operators from entry-level to the most experienced to produce brilliant output on a wide range of media, while also shortening turnaround times for both simple and complex jobs.”
The new imagePress C910 will be available to buy in the final quarter of the calendar year. Check the video below for the launch event.
