Canon says its new Brisbane headquarters will define the next generation of workplaces in Australia by empowering employees and catering to individual working styles.
“The trend of flexible, remote and agile working is being adopted in Australia as businesses realise that technology has the power to enable their workers to do their jobs from wherever they want at a time that suits them,” said Yusuke Mizoguchi, Managing Director, Canon Australia. “At Canon, we believe that while workplace habits and behaviours are slower to change, technology is not. We pledge to always be one step ahead and empower our employees with the technology solutions and culture they need to collaborate, innovate, and grow.”
Canon’s new headquarters in Brisbane has opened just over 12 months since the company’s first ‘high performance workplace’ was rolled out in Macquarie Park, Sydney.
“Canon believes the workplace of the future is tailored to individual working styles,” said Effie Fox, HR & Communications Director, Canon Australia. “Employees are at the heart of the Canon brand and the workplace revolution was driven by the understanding that business culture, reputation, innovation and prosperity lies in the hands of Canon’s employees. The goal of our high performance workplace is to increase employee engagement and productivity, as well as inspiring creativity and collaboration amongst employees.
“The new workplace was designed following extensive research and our employees played an important role in the co-design of the office environment – choosing styles of work that best suit their personal working styles,” said Fox.
“At Canon, we are passionate about our people. Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, we strongly believe in the power of creating a dynamic environment that suits the way in which our employees work. We believe a high performance workplace inspires greater idea generation, innovation, engagement and improved business results through greater job satisfaction.
“The creation of collaboration zones has the power to lead to greater innovation and creativity, with spontaneous brainstorming – driving innovative thinking throughout the business. The new space also allows employees to have ‘coincidental’ meetings as a result of bumping into colleagues, allowing them to resolve issues in real time, which is incredibly valuable. By creating a new way of work, our employees are more productive, allowing them to spend more time on what they do best," said Fox.
