Courtney invests $2.5m with Currie Group
Aldo Burcheri's Courtney Group has signed a $2.5m deal at PrintEx with Currie Group for a major production upgrade for its Melbourne print centre. The deal is the biggest inked at PrintEx this week.
The investment includes a new HP Indigo 12000 B2 press, together with an HP Indigo 7900 and a new Horizon StitchLiner Mark III, all supplied by Currie Group. There is also an HP R2000 flatbed UV, and HP 570 roll-to-roll latex printer.
Speaking to Print21 on Currie Group's stand Burcheri said, “Courtney is committed to staying at the head of the market. We need to invest to be able to have the solutions to offer our customers more. The new HP Indigo printers will enable us to grow further into markets such as variable data print, direct mail and point of sale.
“We are a business that is always looking to innovate and move forward. We were the first in the country to install the B2 HP Indigo. The Indigo 12000 we have ordered has new capabilities, such as invisible ink, that will enable us to offer more to our customers, and give them more value.”
Courtney entered the wide format market 18 months ago, and the two new HP latex printers – a flatbed and a roll to roll – will boost its offering.
Burcheri said, “Print is a tough market, we have to keep investing to keep ahead of the pack. We have a great relationship with Currie Group going back seven years now since we put in Australia's first B2 HP Indigo, so that was a big part of our decision to upgrade with the two new Indigo presses, along with their capabilities.”
Courtney will keep one of its existing HP Indigo B2s, and with the new HP Indigo 7900 now has an SRA3 capability as well. Burcheri said, “It gives us extra flexibility and options.”
David Currie, executive chairman of Currie Group congratulated Burcheri on the stand, as did HP Indigo global vice president Alon Bar-Shany, who is at the show. Currie said, “Courtney Group is a well-run focused business that has embraced digital print and HP Indigo, with its growth evidence of the success of its strategy. We look forward to working with Aldo and the team for many years to come, and to seeing these latest installations help drive the business forward.”
