Deputy PM among 50 MPs and Senators going to Print2Parliament
Australia's deputy prime minister Michael McCormack is one of more than 50 MPs and Senators who will be at next week's Print2Parliament event in Canberra.
Today is the final day for printers to book tickets for next week's event, which takes place in Parliament on Wednesday evening, and will bring together the print industry and the nation's lawmakers for the second time.
The cocktail event will take place in the Mural Hall, and will also see all the gold medal-winning entries from this year’s National Print Awards on display.
The PVCA is encouraging members to make the trip to Canberra and have their voices heard by the country’s decision-makers.
“The print and packaging industry is the largest manufacturing employer in Australia, and is predominantly SMEs. The industry operates in regional cities, as well as capital cities, and provides stable careers for school leavers.
“A graduate print apprentice has skills that are transferable across the entire digital economy. The industry is at the forefront of technology adaptation and investment. There is a printer in every federal electorate in Australia,” said PVCA CEO Andrew Macaulay.
The inaugural Print2Parliament last year saw high-profile figures such as Eric Abetz and Wayne Swan meet industry and union representatives to discuss how MPs and Senators could help printers achieve their goals.
Macaulay said, “This level of engagement can only be beneficial to the print industry. The MPs and Senators were clearly listening to the printers present. We all need to work together to take the industry forwards. This event highlights the benefits of working with politicians – it is clearly effective.”
Member tickets are on sale for $100 per person.
