Digital print sales put Currie Group on top
Three major HP Indigo presses were sold off the Currie stand at last week’s PrintEx reinforcing the position of the major independent graphics arts supplier and celebrating its 10th Year anniversary with HP Indigo.
A top-of-the-range HP Indigo 7500 went to Leo Moio’s Print Media Group, while Frank Hilliard took back to Eastern Press an entry-level HP Indigo 3550. In keeping with the confidential style of the label-printing sector, a major Melbourne converter who shall remain nameless bought a HP Indigo WS6000.
The sales capped off a stellar week for Currie Group, according to Phillip Rennell, sales and marketing director (pictured at left with a happy David Currie).
“We are very pleased with the sales and have taken additional orders at the show, which we will be announcing shortly. There was a very strong level of interest on all products displayed at PrintEx including our Horizon finishing equipment, resulting in a lot of follow up work to be done from now on,” said Rennell.
PrintEx also saw the first public showing of Currie Group’s new Hangzhou Cron CTP device, which attracted plenty of attention. According to Bernie Robinson, managing director, the Chinese built Cron is drawing a lot of attention. “It's a very good machine at a very competitive price point,” he said.
The Currie Group stand was among the busiest at the show as printers of all persuasions found something of interest to check out. Currie remains one of the few full service suppliers in the market.
The scope of the Group’s activities can be gauged by its sponsorship on Wednesday night of the inaugural Australian Dscoop meeting at the Stitch Bar in York Street. Thursday saw Rennell take centre stage at the National Print Awards to present the Currie Group award for the most innovative use of imaging in printing to Sydney digital printer, Momento Pro.
Friday night Currie Group made the definitive ending to PrintEx with a harbour cruise aboard Starship Sydney, where close to 200 customers and staff partied the night away, celebrating the Group's 10-Year anniversary with HP Indigo. By the time the giant cruiser disgorged its merry band at King Street wharf, David Currie pronounced himself well pleased with the Group’s PrintEx experience.
