Two models of Canon's Océ Arizona flatbed printers won Product of the Year Awards at the 2016 Specialty Graphic Imaging (SGIA) Expo in Las Vegas.

The SGIA 2016 Product of the Year for UV Flatbed + White $100-200k was awarded to the Océ Arizona 1280 GT, and the Product of the Year for UV Flatbed + White $200-500k was won by Océ Arizona 2280 XT.

Adrian Morris, manager of Display Graphics, Canon Australia, said it was a clean sweep for the White equipped UV flatbed printers. “We are very proud to be a double winner for flatbed products. Our equipment was compared to the best in the world and we came out on top.”

Judges said it was one of the most challenging judging processes in recent history.

"It was an extremely competitive field," said Ray Weiss, SGIA’s digital specialist. "We are thrilled with the participation from exhibiting companies, and we even doubled the product categories to correctly acknowledge all of the possible technical accomplishments in this competition."

Meanwhile, Canon Inc., the parent company of Canon Australia, released its annual sustainability report showing the company exceeded its 2015 goal for lifecycle CO2 emissions improvement.

For 2015, Canon exceeded its goal of a 3 percent lifecycle CO2 emissions improvement index per product 1 over 2014 figures through efforts to make products more compact, lightweight, and energy efficient, as well as through improved efficiencies during manufacturing and transportation. The Company has also been recognized with multiple awards for its corporate environmental sustainability efforts.

“Canon takes great pride in being a steward of the environment and of the communities in which we do business,” said Seymour Liebman, executive vice president, Canon U.S.A. “Our commitment to the environment, whether through product design or corporate social responsibility initiatives, will remain unwavering."
