Canon Australia has appointed former Australia Post executive Gavin Gomes as director of its B2B division Canon Business Services in a move to strengthen its 'technology and end-to-end managed services customer proposition.' The B2B unit includes Business Services, Production Printing and Canon Finance Australia.  Gomes will also become a director of Harbour IT.

“I’m delighted to welcome Gavin to our team and he brings a breadth of knowledge and experience in the B2B arena," said Canon Oceania MD Yusuke Mizoguchi. "A highly competent leader of sales and marketing teams, I am confident he will be an asset to our team and contribute to the dynamic culture of our organisation. We will continue to invest in diversifying our solutions and partnerships to place our customer’s needs at the forefront of our business”.

Gomes has held several senior executive leadership roles over the last 20 years with blue chip companies including Australia Post Group, IBM, Procter & Gamble and Telstra.

“I’m looking forward to leading an integrated team in Canon Australia’s business services at this exciting time," Gomes said. "I am interested to find ways we can work with our channel partners to help streamline our customer’s business processes."

Canon Business Services delivers a range of solutions in the B2B space including office and professional print, managed services as well as a range of solutions and services enabling digital transformation, underpinned by Canon technology.

Gomes will be working with channel partners and customers, driving the business through a period of transition to address the rapidly changing demands of the business market, according to a press release.

In 2013, Canon undertook a business review, which highlighted that to meet the future needs of our customers in Australia, Canon’s business model needed to adapt. Canon recognised that it needed to diversify and increase the services it offered. To achieve this goal Canon has made four strategic acquisitions: Océ Australia to expand high-end professional printing capability; SUNSTUDIOS to expand the offering to professional photographers; Harbour IT to offer solutions in the Cloud and IT managed services; and most recently Converga, expanding Canon’s BPO capability.

Gomes aims to strengthen Canon’s technology and end-to-end managed services customer proposition for businesses in Australia.

David Klineberg, Interim Director, Canon Business Services since Craig Mason’s departure in December, will move across to Canon subsidiary Converga into an expanded role as Chief Operating Officer.

Gomes will begin his new job on Monday 4th July,
