HP has debuted a pair of new equipment solutions at Dscoop Asia in South Korea: the HP Latex R2000 printer for rigid and soft signage, and the DesignJet Z-series for large-format photo printing.

The R2000 is the first of the HP Latex R-series, announced at ISA Sign Expo in March, and is capable of printing with white ink on both soft and rigid substrates. Mike Boyle, vice-president and general manager of graphics solutions for HP Asia-Pacific and Japan, called the R2000 a 'major milestone' in printing. "HP developed this breakthrough technology based on print service providers' (PSPs) continued request for an HP Latex printer to print on both rigid and flexible materials using our water-based inks," he said. "This introduction is another step forward in how HP creates the best experiences for our customers, continually reinventing the possibilities of print."

Also unveiled at Dscoop were the DesignJet Z6 and Z9 wide-format photo printers, which feature tightly-integrated hardware, software and materials to maximise output quality, and come with vertical cutters on select models. “The new DesignJet Z Printer series radically enhances the customer experience and reinvents printing possibilities for both professional photo and signage to ignite business growth and adapt to future needs,” said Boyle. “We thoughtfully designed the new printers to deliver impressive photo quality without compromising time resources and output speeds with the new vertical trimmer and innovative color technologies.”
