First woman managing director of a Canon company in the region steps into the shoes of her Japanese predecessor who heads to Australia.
Yusuke Mizoguchi is the new managing director of Canon Australia/Oceania following his stint at the helm in New Zealand. In what some may describe as a promotion, although others would be more sympathetic, the progression of Canon leadership in the region follows established patterns, with one notable exception.
Kim Conner is the new MD of Cannon New Zealand, breaking a glass ceiling on the strength of her leadership performance in Canon Consumer division where she achieved number one market share in a number of key categories.
“Having spent seven years helping to grow the Canon New Zealand business and seeing the various changes take place, it is fantastic to be given the opportunity to lead a company that is not only well-recognized on the global stage, but has a significant place in the New Zealand business community,” she said.
Yusuke Mizoguchi, Managing Director of Canon New Zealand (pictured) will succeed the Australian MD, Taz Nakamasu, and also take on the role of Chairman of Canon New Zealand, as well as Chairman of research company, CiSRA. Nakamasu will return to Japan as executive officer of Canon Inc.
Mizoguchi comes to the role with experience and understanding of both the region and business. Similar to Taz, he has achieved a number of benchmark initiatives during his time as managing director in New Zealand, including a full company reorganization and the development of a strong leadership team. Mizoguchi has a deep understanding of Canon Australia’s culture, people and business, which, according to a company press release, coupled with his already strong relationships means that the transition across the Tasman will be seamless.
“It is with great honour that I take on the leadership of Managing Director, Canon Australia and Oceania. Everyone who works in the Canon Oceania region has tremendous respect for what Taz Nakamasu and his team have achieved during his tenure. I take on a business that is truly in great shape,” he said.
