Kiwi consolidation as Aarque buys Jenrite

In its first major move since being acquired by BJ Ball last year the Aarque Group has bought rival Jenrite, consolidating the wide format supplies sector in New Zealand.

For Aarque – already the biggest supplier of wide format solutions in New Zealand – the deal will significantly increase the leverage and reach of the organisation, by providing access to new products and services.

Established 20 years ago, laminating was the core Jenrite business, but in recent years it has become a major supplier of large format digital print solutions, including printers, inks, rips and a range of media for both water based and solvent printers. Managing director is Steven Kemp.

Aarque itself is owned by BJ Ball, which bought it last year. BJ Ball is the New Zealand version of Ball & Doggett, now owned by Japan Pulp & Paper. Leo Bult, CEO of Aarque Group, said, “Acquiring Jenrite is a natural progression that allows us to streamline our supply pipeline and increase our added-value offer.

“It is an exciting time for our customers as new opportunities and increased access to the world’s best products and technology leaders will ensure they remain at the forefront of this growth sector. And of course, this will come with an unparalleled level of service as we look to enlarge our support structures.”

Most of the 27 staff at Jenrite will transfer over into the new business. Kemp said, “The highly professional team at Jenrite has built a reputation for providing excellent after sales service and support, reflected through the loyalty of our customers. I am therefore pleased to say that as part of the acquisition, Aarque Group has recognised the valuable contribution of our team – with most transferring across to the new organisation.”

The deal is expected to be completed today.
