Heidelberg has launched a new online portal which it says will enable label converters to benefit from expert knowledge in the field, from both itself and other label printers.
Label Experts is a joint project between Heidelberg and subsidiary Gallus, and offers converters a free repository of technical articles, white papers, and tips.
Dierk Wissmann, ANZ national sales manager for Gallus at Heidelberg, said the site aims to inspire converters. "Any label printer can register and log in to view topics selected by our Label Experts team," he said. "It is a platform driven by Heidelberg, and the emphasis is to bring the latest developments in the market and share them with the label community.
"Label printers in Austraila and New Zealand will be able to see applications and jobs from around the world, and keep up to date with the latest technologies and trends. It is a two way stream. If they have any queries in regard to any aspect of label printing they will be able to put them out there."
According to Professor Dr Ulrich Hermann, member of the Heidelberg management board responsible for lifecycle solutions and the company's chief digital officer, the knowledge base for label technology has greatly expanded with the growth of the industry, and it was only a matter of time before this knowledge was collected in one place.
“Heidelberg’s strength lies in its knowledge of its customers and their issues. This is where our future customer communication begins, not just with the product,” he said.
Hermann says that, with the launch of Label Experts, Heidelberg customers will be able to access exclusive expert knowledge. “If we are able to prove to our customers that we understand the label printing industry, will our customers continue to place their trust in us for their most important investment decisions,” he said.
