Melbourne trade finisher Enhance Print says its new Foliant laminator is playing a pivotal role in expanding its core business.
The foil stamping and embossing specialist decided late last year it was missing out on a considerable amount of work because of a hole in its machinery lineup.
"We do a lot of packaging work and that's the biggest market, matt and gloss, everything and anything, from football cards, stationery cards, business cards, cosmetic boxes to chocolate boxes," says co-owner Dave Waters. "But we found we were missing out on work because while we would be foil stamping and embossing for clients, when somebody needed a laminating job we couldn't do it and the work had to go elsewhere.
Enhance turned to Currie Group and earlier this year a team from the leading supplier installed a brand new Foliant Taurus 530SF laminator in the Enhance Print factory at Hallam in Melbourne's south-east.
"By adding the laminator, the clients now send us the work and we can do everything in house," says Waters. "We're not chasing the laminating work but it's just something we can now offer to our clients so it's actually helping us to pick up more foil stamping and embossing work.
"The Foliant is very sturdy and fast," he says. "We don't use the machine every day but when we do we tend to use it in spurts where we can be flat out on it for five or six days at a time."
Waters says the installation earlier this year went without a hitch. "Currie handled it all and it went very smoothly. They offered us two days of training but it was so easy to pick up that we only needed a couple of hours."
Enhance Print is a foil stamping and embossing specialist and also offers security features including holograms, as well as letterpress printing, supply gloss and matt laminating from its factory at 74-80 Melverton Drive, Hallam. It provides laser cutting for custom wedding invitations and related stationery. Forme cutting and die making services are also available.
