LIA hosting International Print Day events
The Lithographic Institute of Australia (LIA) is hosting events in Queensland and NSW as part of International Print Day, Wednesday October 23.
For the Queensland event the LIA evening will include a showcase of local print sample, with printers invited bring along print samples of your own.
There will be networking with industry colleagues and peers, and the opportunity to hear about upcoming LIA events and relevant industry news.
Drinks and nibbles provided, with the LIA saying clients and industry supporters all welcome – “it's a celebration”.
Location is Konica Minolta Australia, Level 9, 100 Skyring Terrace, Newstead, with a 5pm arrival for a 5.30pm start. Numbers are limited so contact the LIA for an invite, email info@liaqld.com.au for details..
Meanwhile the NSW LIA will hold a technical dinner on digital embellishment and value-added print to coincide with International Print Day.
Slated for the same day 23 October at 6pm, the event at the Carnarvon Golf Club in Lidcombe will explore digital embellishments such as UV varnish; spot matte and gloss varnishes; sensory raised and textured spot varnishes; metal foiling and dieless foil applications; and printing on laminates.
Mitch Mulligan, LIA NSW committee member, says the dinner will be a great way to learn about embellishing options that don’t require the level of expertise demanded by processes such as hot foil stamping.
“Despite decreasing print run lengths, print businesses can increase their profits with digital embellishments, which add value to their print. The presenters for the evening will represent the Currie Group, Konica Minolta and Océ, all of which offer a wide variety of digital embellishment.
“This will be a great opportunity to watch, listen and learn and open our minds to possibilities within this space,” he said.
Tickets are $65 for LIA members and $70 for non-members.
