The second Printing Industries and Allied Trades Sportsman Charity Luncheon is slated for next month, and will unite printers with sporting legends for a trio of good causes.

Backed by the LIA Queensland, the event will be held at the Brothers Rugby Union Club in Albion. Evan Bancroft, who will emcee the day, told Print21 that the previous event attracted 180 people and raised about $15,000 for charity; this year, three causes are set to benefit.

“Youngcare we support every year, which is a great cause – they make hospices for younger people. One of our industry friends’ sons fell down a mountain and nearly died, but Rescue 500 saved him, so that’s another cause. The third cause is to help out Paul Green, who’s been an industry identity for years and is suffering from a couple of health issues,” said Bancroft.

A table for ten costs $1400, and Bancroft hopes the industry gets behind the event, which will feature three sporting legends speaking on their past and present achievements.

“We’ve got Greg ‘Fat Cat’ Ritchie, a former test cricketer and a great entertainer; Michael Crocker, who played rugby league for Queensland and Australia; and Ben Hudson, the ruck coach for the Brisbane Lions.

“It’ll be a great afternoon, always good to get the Queensland printing industry together and have a catch-up and a few beers, and raise money for a few good causes,” he said.

The Printing Industries and Allied Trades Sportsman Charity Luncheon will be held on 23 August, from 12pm to 4pm. To book your table, contact Helma Ambachtsheer on 07 3860 5300, or at helma@spotpro.com.au.
