Well-known industry identity, Mike Boyle steps up as the new senior general manager of Canon Professional Print, arguably the largest graphic arts supplier to the industry. Australian-born Boyle picks up the reins from Simon Wheeler, who has steered the company through tough times in its landmark merger with Oce.

Mike Boyle, incoming director of Canon Professional Print

Boyle returns home to take the Canon Professional Print (CPP) top seat after a four-year stint in the Netherlands as International Marketing Director for Oce, and brings his extensive knowledge of both the local and global print markets to his new role, which officially commences in January 2014.

Michael Boyle said, "Simon has led the business through a challenging period of integration while setting us on path towards achieving our goal of bringing us closer to our customers. With this foundation in place, I am committed to realising this vision and making Canon the partner of choice for the future."

Speaking of the transition, Boyle stresses he will continue to focus on integrating the two companies, Canon and Oce, while working to enhance client intimacy within the business and develop the company's relationship with its customer base.

A distinguished career behind him, Boyle joined Oce Australia in 1995 and worked his way up through the company, taking the role of Business Unit Director Wide Format Printing Systems in 2001, before making the move to Oce's European headquarters in 2010.

Simon Wheeler steps down from the role to return to his native home in the UK after four and a half years serving in the ANZ region. Wheeler served as Oce Australia managing director since 2009, before heading up the newly formed CPP in 2013 to oversee one of the biggest and most contentious mergers in recent memory.

After the official handover, Wheeler will be taking up a position in London as director of Photo Production Printing in Canon's European headquarters. He makes the move for personal reasons, to focus on raising his and his partner's new born daughter back in the UK.
