New design for half size Heidelberg presses
Heidelberg has revamped the design of the world's biggest selling B2 offset presses, the Speedmaster XL 75 and CX 75, to make them more ergonomic and user-friendly.
The 50 x 70cm format presses are commonly used by small to medium commercial printers, as well as packaging printers in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic markets, and are suitable for small folding cartons, short runs, and high levels of embellishment. They are already available to order in Australia.
The redesign is inspired by the Speedmaster XL 106, and comes from an increased focus on user ergonomics, according to Frank Süsser, product manager for the format at Heidelberg.
“Even though automation looks after many routine tasks today, the operator always has something to do on the machine, like staging printing plates, adding ink, changing washup cloths and rubber blankets, or doing maintenance.
“The generous space between the printing units in the Speedmaster XL 75 and CX 75 is already useful, however we went a step further and modernised the entire gallery concept even more,” he said.
The new presses will feature at Pack Print International in Thailand from 18-21 September, then at a customer event the following month at the company’s Print Media Centre Commercial in Wiesloch-Walldorf, Germany.
“This is the first foretaste of drupa 2020. Other innovative solutions will follow to make our customers in this format even more successful,” said Süsser.
