Westman Printing in south-western Sydney is set to expand its laminating capabilities with a new D&K Europa PB A2 laminator from Graph-Pak.

The Europa PB, which uses two separately controlled laminating stations to give an identical finish to both sides of the sheet, will help increase Minto-based Westman's throughput, says Vik Gulati, director. "We do quite a bit of trade work around here, we’re one of the bigger commercial printers south of Wetherill Park. This will add another service we can provide our trade customers," he said.

After initially considering a single-sided laminator, Westman decided to purchase a double-sided machine from Graph-Pak, having had a good working relationship in the past with Tom Ralph, managing director. "All the other suppliers told us we’d have to wait four to six months for a double-sided machine, and they were able to get one for us straight away. We’ve dealt with Tom before, we bought a Busch banding machine from him, and we really like the way he does business. He goes out of his way to help you out and make sure that he’s doing the right thing."

Tom Ralph says he is 'over the moon' to deal with Gulati and his company, who he says are on a growth path to success. "Vik’s entering a new market there with a highly automated two-sided laminator that will be able to do digital and offset print. It also has the capability for in-line foiling, which will make him stand out from the crowd – it’s another way of increasing margins and bringing profit in," he said.

Graph-Pak has embarked on a 'PacPrint presale push' before the trade show in Melbourne this month, and expects to sell four more Europa PB machines, as well as a host of other gear, at the exhibition. "I'm just getting started," Ralph said.
