Next marches into labels with new HP Indigo 6900 and ABG Digicon
Next Printing is moving into the labels sector, with the company investing in a new HP Indigo 6900 Digital Press and an ABG Digicon Lite converting system, both supplied by Currie Group, to kick-start its new business.
Company chairman Tom Tjanaria and managing director Romeo Sanuri signed for the new kit at Labelexpo in Brussels with Currie Group director of Labels and Packaging Mark Daws. Next will add the new business to its existing wide format operation.
Speaking to Print21 at the show, Sanuri said, “It is ground zero for us in labels. We believe it is a growth sector, with great opportunity in digital labels. We are looking forward to opening a new chapter in the Next story.
“We have experience with HP Indigo already, so when it came to our production equipment we were aware of what could be achieved. Teaming the Indigo with the Digicon Lite means we have a complete line for producing finished labels, all backed and supported by Currie Group.”
Next has made its name in wide format printing, with 35 staff now working for the Sydney-based company. It started out in 1986 as a photographic lab, then moved into wide format 15 years ago, going on to be one of the country's leading printers in the sector; it still operates a photolab with five staff.
Mark Daws said, “We are proud to welcome Next Printing to the Currie Group label and packaging family of customers with its purchase of the HP Indigo 6900 and Digicon Lite. Everyone knows the commitment Next Printing has to producing quality product, and the vision the company has to move forward. Exciting times are ahead.”
