South Australian-based global packaging group Detmold has acquired Adelaide carton packaging business Custom Cartons to expand its manufacturing capability.
Privately-owned Custom Cartons operates a converting facility in Adelaide that's adjacent to Detmold's head office in the inner northern suburb of Brompton. Custom will continue to trade under its current brand from the existing premises, now as a division of Detmold, and all management and staff will be transferred to the Detmold Group, with employment terms and benefits being retained.
"This acquisition builds on our commitment to local Australian manufacturing and we're pleased that we are able to secure the employment futures of the entire Custom Cartons workforce," said Rodney Detmold, executive chairman, Detmold.
"From a strategic perspective, Custom Cartons is a welcome addition to the Detmold Group both in terms of its local customer base and its complimentary manufacturing capability. This plant will supplement our offshore carton production facilities, benefitting our customers through improved service and a broader product range.
"Detmold's existing customers will gain from additional carton converting capability and the acquisition will benefit Custom Cartons' clients by providing access to additional capability and an expanded product range."
Detmold Group is an Australian owned and operated global packaging company that supplies the FMCG, industrial, food service, retail and medical markets. Established in 1948, Detmold currently employs over 2,500 people, with 18 offices around the world and manufacturing operations in six countries.
The deal will be completed on 1 July 2016.
