Young graphic arts students from RMIT looked to digital print to showcase their catalogue and portfolios for the graduation exhibition.

Océ assisted the students produce their catalogue and portfolios in preparation for the graduation exhibition on Océ production colour systems at the Océ showroom using specialist Océ media.

RMIT Graphics training educator, Meredith Chesney, said it was crucial to the students that the highest standards of digital printing were used to print their design portfolios.

“This opportunity, provided by Océ, enabled the students to create and design the final art and then make sure it was printed the way they wanted it on correct media, completing the cycle. The students found it a terrific experience and, equally importantly, they were encouraged to work together in developing the work, which reinforced the teamwork ethic they will find in the workplace,” she said.

Earlier, industry representatives were invited to view the portfolios and a number of job offers have already been received by some of the students. Meredith Chesney said that this was common each year as the standards in the course were highly regarded by the printing, advertising and graphic design sectors.
