Roland rolls out VersaCamm VS-640

Roland is set to go even wider with the launch of the VersaCAMM VS-640.

The latest release from the company, the printer goes one step further from the popular XC-450MT, the world’s first inkjet printer/cutter with metallic silver ink that stole the show at last year’s Visual Impact.

At 64" wide (1620mm), the VS-640 is Roland's largest printer/cutter to date. The VS-640 combines the industry's latest print head technology with renowned Roland Print & Cut capabilities, Roland's Advanced Ink Circulation System and an optional take-up unit for unattended production capabilities. A new Roland Metallic Colour Library includes a range of metallic and pearlescent colours allowing VS-640 users to add luxurious metallic effects to signs, banners, vehicle graphics and wraps, fine art posters, packaging prototypes, labels, decals, POP displays, heat transfers for apparel and more.

"In the current economic climate, it is important for businesses to stand out from the competition," said Marc Margetts, Roland DG managing director. "Offering a full spectrum of brilliant metallic colours, the VS-640 takes businesses to the next level with advanced production capabilities at an affordable initial investment along with low operating costs. Metallic graphics command a premium price in the marketplace and with the VS-640 they can be produced quickly, easily and profitably – in any quantity."

Based on a new generation of print head technology, the VS-640 fires droplets of seven different sizes for smooth gradations, photographs and solid colours. Precision-rounded nozzles combine with the ink firing system to produce ink droplets and image quality. The new gold-plated print head is designed to repel ink in order to minimise clogs.

Roland’s business development manager, Conrad Birkett, (pictured) is highly optimistic of the machine’s future not just in Australia, but world-wide.
“There is nothing else on the market that approaches this functionality-wise,” he said. “We are exceedingly excited about this product. It will go out the door like hot cakes.”

Note from editor:
Having witnessed a demonstration of the first machine in Australia, the print quality was more than impressive. At a reasonable price and the capability of producing superb imagery, this machine is sure to make a mark. Mitchell Jordan
