Rolling Stone commissioned US printer National Graphics to use its 'Extreme Vision Lenticular Imaging' technology to create the special 3D cover (pictured right), a spectacular montage similar to the cover of the Beatles' Sgt. Peppers Lonely Club Band album. It includes images of hundreds of pop culture icons dating all the way back to the 1960s.

Rolling Stone is the first publication to place a 9” x 11” lenticular cover on the front cover as well as the back, which will feature an ad for the Target retail chain. Publisher Wenner Media is distributing 2 million copies of the issue throughout the US, which will be available via import in Australia.

National Graphics was established in 1976, and are recognised as one of the pioneers in lenticular imaging.

On a local scale, Outer Aspect in Auckland, New Zealand are bringing the lenticular printing process to the region and recently teamed up with SEP Sprint in Victoria to perform work on commemorative lenticular stamps for the Winter Olympics.
