A Komori L528 Lithrone offset press (pictured) from liquidated Sydney printer Saunders Print Group has been sold and shipped overseas to an unnamed printing company.
“There was a lot of interest in the Komori L528 and we had 15 offers, which varied significantly as some of the bidders had a very, very opportunistic opinion in relation to value,” says Tim O’Mara, founder of O’Maras auction house. “The buyer who purchased it has completed the process and the machine has been exported overseas but I’m not sure exactly where it was going.”
Western Sydney commercial printer Saunders Print Group closed its doors last month after 65 years in business and called in a liquidator.
The rest of machinery from the Saunders site at Glendenning was sold off by auction last week, including: 1988 POLAR 115EM paper guillotine, 1998 POLAR 115ED paper guillotine, 2006 G&K FA 50/4-4K FL2-50 paper folder with silencing hoods, 2 x RYOBI 512 2 colour offset presses, GET PACKED heat shrink wrapping system, DUPLO DC-645 slitter/cutter/creaser, TACHOPLUS TC-5500 digital perfect booklet maker/binder, GET PACKED 2-ATM 700 automatic double-sided taping machine with RYOBI 2.0HP air compressor, FUJI XEROX Color 1000 Press digital booklet machine, and FUJI XEROX Color 800 Press digital colour press.
“The sale was successful and exceeded expectations," says O'Mara. "We sold everything a week ago but the offers on the intellectual property were not sufficient and that opportunity is no longer available."
Saunders Print was founded by the late John Saunders as a small print shop in Paddington in 1953, before expanding into the then pioneering specialisation of high quality corporate business card production.
Liquidator BRI Ferrier held the first creditors’ meeting last week.
