Signhere Signs has become the second business in Perth to install the new HP Rigid Latex R2000 flatbed print system.

The R2000 is the first flatbed HP has built that uses its latex ink system, which has been in its roll to roll systems for ten years now.

The new install at Signshere comes hot on the heels of Discus Print in Mount Hawthorne, which installed the first in WA to complement its four HP roll to rolls, and two UV flatbeds.

The water-based latex inks means no odours and strong adherence to substrates, with wide colour gamut. The R2000 print heads are thermal rather than the commonly used piezo. The inks are heat cured with thermosetting polymers.

The R2000 can handle media up to 2.5m wide by 1.2m, although this can go to 3.1m if extension tables are used. Media thickness can be up to 5mm. Output speed is up to 88sqm per hour. It has a white ink option.

It is the first flatbed that Signshere has installed. The company cited its environmental credentials and ability to print to consistent colour across different media as key reasons for the investment.
