Leading Auckland print companies Soar Printing and CCL Communications Group have teamed up to target the expanding print services market.
Under the terms of a partnership deal, Soar is purchasing the goodwill of CCL and will acquire key personnel, including CCL director Richard Davy, to manage CCL’s print production business, which will still be managed under the CCL brand. Five of CCL’s production staff will lose their jobs.
Soar has also created a supply arrangement with CCL’s creative partner, Davy & Chapman, to provide creative and brand services to Soar, effectively becoming Soar’s strategic creative partner.
“It is a smart partnership that offers significant benefits for all of our clients,” said Fred Soar, director of Soar Printing, a third generation family-owned and operated printing, graphic design and digital asset management company. “We share an enduring commitment to service delivery and excellence that intergenerational family businesses take pride in. We’re both passionate about colour management through the ISO 12647-2 colour management and control system, as we have clients who are very colour sensitive.
“We both have a strong interest in community proactivity and sustainability, demonstrated by CCL being one of first FSC and PEFC certified printers and our recent wins in the 2015 Green Ribbon Awards for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and our Supreme award win at the 2013 Sustainable 60 Awards.”
Richard Davy, director of CCL, a print production company established in 1985, described the partnership as a ‘great new step’ after 30 years in business. “Among the many strengths we can now bring to bear together for our clients as partners are superior online services and purchasing, plus digital printing. We have also significantly increased our capabilities in terms of oversize offset printing, large format and label printing, plus storage and logistics.
“Up to five of our production-related roles are being disestablished due to the greater production capacity that Soar offers. However, key client-facing roles will have continuity.”
Soar has just signed a two-year print supply agreement with Oxfam that is due to start this month.
Soar Printing was founded in 1920 by Lt. Colonel Fred Soar and has a current workforce of around 70 operating 24 hours a day, 6 days a week from its Eden Terrace premises in Auckland.
CCL Communications Group is an Auckland print production company that works with several of NZ’s leading advertising and brand agencies, offering offset and digital print solutions.
