The winds of change: 17 July 2008
The printing industry has more people coming and going than an airport. This week, Print 21 takes a look at the flurry of changes that has occurred.
Nemeth revives Quark
As Quark undergoes a makeover, Alex Nemeth is now the face of Quark in Australia and New Zealand.
The newly-appointed regional business director was lured to Quark after working for Computer Associates.
"Quark is an iconic brand that played a key role in revolutionising the design and publishing industry twenty years ago," he said. "A lot has happened since then; but the future is exciting."
In this role, Nemeth (pictured) is responsible for managing the Quark businesses within Australia and New Zealand. This involving working with distributors and resellers to promote Quark's desktop and enterprise solutions, and supporting end users with their business.
"I enjoy working for a dynamic business that is highly focussed on our customers and working with customers who are passionate about our solutions," he said.
Quark's restructuring and vision for the future is what attracted Nemeth to the role. He believes the company has what it takes to create an impact on the publishing industry once more.
"I am confident that the organisation has the right people and strategy to deliver value to our customers and be successful," he said.
Gut joins Positive Camtec
Adriano Gut has made to move from Switzerland to Australia to take up the role as sales and marketing manager at Positive Camtec.
Previously working as the head of Qualimage, Gut (pictured) has a background in the dye sublimation industry and a strong knowledge of the digital printing arena. His involvement with Positive Camtec spans several years and after being offered a job with the company, knew it was too good to say no.
"They're the one company I really wanted to work for," he said.
Living in a new country has also proved an enjoyable experience for Gut. "I have a crush on Australia," he said, "it's an interesting working environment for me and I can use my experience from overseas."
Philip Trumble, technical director, welcomed Gut to the team. "Adriano's experience, enthusiasm and professionalism is a huge asset for Positive Camtec, and our whole team will benefit from his presence," he said.
Fuji Xerox expands production services business team
Two new appointments at Fuji Xerox Australia promise a growth in production services.
Paul Sanelli (pictured right) has joined the team as a production printing systems marketing manager. Sanelli, formerly a document production specialist, joined Fuji Xerox Australia nine years ago, after 18 years in the prepress industry, including time at Linotype and Agfa.
His new portfolio includes Fuji Xerox's continuous feed production printers as well as its flagship Nuvera monochrome cut sheet production presses.
"My intent is to build upon our successes in on-demand publishing, further extend customised publishing in the education sector, and continue to drive the adoption of high value transpromo applications," said Sanelli.
Adam Todd (pictured below) is newly appointed strategic account manager, NSW Graphic Arts for Fuji Xerox Australia. Todd has been involved in the commercial print market for 18 years, starting as an apprentice lithographic printer with Macarthur Press.
Currently on the board for the National Print Awards and a past president of the NSW Junior Printing Executive, Todd plays an active role in the print industry. At Fuji Xerox Australia, he is overseeing major commercial accounts and assisting in the development of digital adoption across the newspaper, heatset web, labeling and sheet-fed markets.
"One of the main aims in my new role is to help guide and collaborate with large commercial printers in their evolution from print provider to print partner," said Todd.
Simon Lane, national manager, production services business, said the expansion of the team is indicative of Fuji Xerox Australia's commitment to market development and customer support.
"I'm certain both Paul and Adam will bring their own flair and experience to these positions," he said.
