Townsville takes out newspaper print centre award
The News Corp Townsville Print Centre has won Print Centre of the Year in the annual NewsMediaWorks newspaper awards, taking out top prize for the second year in a row.
Townsville beat off competition from rival printers, also News Corp centres, in Sunshine Coast and Darwin for the gong.
The Townsville Print Centre is now printing both News and Nine (formerly Fairfax) newspapers in part of the print sharing deal inked by the two companies last July, with Fairfax closing its Ormiston site as a result. The Ormiston press has been earmarked for the greenfield News site to be built in Melbourne.
Best run of press award went to the Apple Daily in Hong Kong, while best use of print was awarded to the New Zealand Herald for its They Are Us campaign.
Winner of the best execution of print advertising for a client in the community category went to Seven West Media’s Community News, while ACM took out the regional award, and the national award was won by News Corp for the Heart Foundation Australia.
