Vicon prints charity aprons in MasterChef cook-off
An introduction from Currie Group NSW account manager Will Currie led to innovative garment printer Vicon Transfers donating printed aprons for the Food for Change charity MasterChef cook-off, which raised $30,000 for the charity.
Currie knew both Hish Nidam from the organising committee, and Vicon owner Ben Carroll – Vicon is a valued HP Indigo customer – and made the connection when Nidam talked to him about the plans for the charity cook-off.
Vicon then printed the heat transfer logos for the event's aprons on its HP Indigo digital press and presented the 20 aprons to Nidam as the event was about to take place.
Carroll said, “Unfortunately Covid-19 has put a financial strain on charities exactly when the people they support need them the most. So, it was a pleasure to make even a small contribution to this great cause. The team behind Food for Change are doing particularly important work right now – with a real passion and drive to make a difference.”
Vicon produced aprons for the four MasterChef contestants, and the dozen panellists judging the meals created. Nidam said, “We were so pleased to have raised $30,000 for the valuable work of Food for Change, and would like to express our thanks to Ben Carroll and Will Currie for their part in making the event such a success.”
Nidam – who works for Woods & Co Recruitment – said, “I am part of 10x10 Philanthropy, which organises charity events for various causes. We prioritised Food for Change, as in the current circumstances it is playing a vital role. We came up with the MasterChef cook-off idea, but of course because of Covid we could not run a usual event, we had to run a live stream online version.
“Many people contributed, it was great that Will Currie could introduce us to Ben Carroll at Vicon, and that he was more than happy to print the aprons for the event as part of his giving. Brand recognition is important, so to have the contributing brands on the aprons worked really well.”
Will Currie said “Food for Change is a great initiative to be contributing to. Woods & Co Recruitment is setting a great example in how to operate as corporate culture and give back to the community.
“Brand recognition can be the difference between being the recipient of the first phone call and the second, which correlates to winning or losing work. I am so pleased to have been able to introduce Ben and Hish and to see the result.”
