VIRUS: Business to continue to operate in new restrictions
In its latest guidance PVCA says the new coronavirus restrictions set to come into play at noon today do not mean print and packaging businesses need to shut down.
It says print businesses should continue to operate within the existing safe work practices, social distancing guidelines of one person per four square metre rule, and the monitoring of health.
PVCA will be providing members ongoing industry updates via video link, and video IR seminars. To register for these email info@pvca.org.au
PVCA will also guide all members on the process to apply for the SME grants, which now range from $20,000 to $100,000, announced by the prime minister.
Yesterday the prime minister, premiers and chief ministers agreed to implement, through state and territory laws, new Stage 1 restrictions on social gatherings, to be reviewed on a monthly basis, and likely to remain in place for the next six months.
Under the new stimulus package announced yesterday the federal government will also transfer up to $50,000 to small and medium businesses within weeks, and will offer another $50,000 in the new financial year to confront fears of widespread lay-offs. The payments will be based on PAYG paid, and will be made by the government on the basis of the monthly BAS forms due to be lodged on April 21, and quarterly BAS forms due on April 28, with the first payments to be made soon afterwards.
The annual amount of up to $50,000 is on top of a similar cash injection of $25,000 a year announced two weeks ago.
The government will also guarantee half the value of new bank loans to small and medium companies to unlock up to $40 billion in finance.
It has already said any purchase by business in plant and equipment up to $150,000 can be written off instantly, with any purchases over that amount able to have half the value written off instantly.
