Two of this year's Women in Print breakfast events have just taken place, with the remaining three slated for next week.
The event – sponsored by IVE, Kwik Kopy and Media Super – kicked off in Perth on Wednesday, with a record crowd in Adelaide on Thursday. It moves onto Brisbane on Tuesday, Sydney on Wednesday and Melbourne on Thursday.
This year’s guest speaker is Amna Karra-Hassan, an activist and advocate for diversity, inclusion and gender parity. At the events she is addressing the role of gender in leadership and how women working in the print industry can benefit from this understanding.
Karra-Hassan works for the Australian Federal Police in the Reform, Culture and Standards portfolio, which is responsible for engaging the workforce in cultural change. She is also the founder and president of the Auburn Giants Australian Football Club and has pioneered programmes for women of minority communities in Western Sydney.
Women in Print has grown from humble beginnings in 2007 to become one of the leading events on the local industry calendar. Patrons include Susan Heaney, Heaney’s Performers in Print (QLD), Natalie Taylor, Ive Group (NSW), Kirsten Taylor, Taylor'd Press (VIC), Lisa Blachut, Advance Press (WA), Marisa Rossi, Graphic Print Group, and Sandy Aspinall, Adelaide University (SA).
Bookings are still open for the events next week. The Brisbane breakfast is at Ovolo Inchcolm from 7.15am-10am on Tuesday, in Sydney it will be at The Tea Room in the Queen Victoria Building in the CBD at 7.30am-9.30am on Wednesday, with the final event in Elwood, Vic, at Sails on the Bay on Thursday 7.30am-9.30am.
