ALL OUTDOOR MEDIA SECTORS GROWING
All sectors in the outdoor media industry rose strongly last year as the spend topped $1bn for the first time, with the country returning to work following covid.
The industry as a whole surged back following the Covid collapse, with growth of 27.6 per cent over the previous year, reaching $1.06bn, up from $831.1 million.
Transport saw the biggest growth, the final figure more than doubling from $48.7m to $100.3m. Roadside Billboards remains the biggest category, its total of $463.8m was up by $100m over the previous year.
Street furniture, bus and tram externals, and small format grew to $238.5m from $195.7m, while retail, lifestyle and other reached $257.9m up from $224.2 million.
Digital Out of Home revenue now accounts for 64.1 per cent of total net media revenue year-to-date, an increase over the recorded 58.9 per cent for the same period last year.
Print’s share is now at an all-time low of 35.9 per cent. However, in cash terms spent on print in 2022 the figure rose to $380.5m, up by 10 per cent on the $341.5m for 2021.
