ASGA GOLF DAY TEES OFF IN VICTORIA
The Australian Sign & Graphics Association's inaugural Victorian golf day on 15 September, which saw 64 sign industry golf enthusiasts tee off at the Sandhurst Golf Club in Melbourne, and is now set to become an annual event.
“We’re a small team at Asga, but after a couple of years of Covid disruptions, we’re making a real effort this year to host events around the nation,” said Asga events manager, Michael Punch, saying that the pre-golf networking evening event was held at the Espy Club in St Kilda the week before, and was attended by 15 people.
“There are many benefits for getting the industry together: there’s the fun and social aspect, and then there’s the sharing of knowledge and business challenges, which can help with fostering a positive outlook.
“Hosting a golf day and networking evening in Victoria has been on our agenda for some time. We’re pleased with the turnout and positive feedback from attendees. All agreed the event should become a regular one on the industry calendar,” Punch added, thanking the sign companies who supported the event, many of whom he noted, had brought along key clients as guests.
He also thanked event sponsors Spicers (principal), Graphic Art Mart, SMIB, General Formulations, Amari Visual, Ball & Doggett, Bounce LED, Corex Graphics, Hexis, HVG, Mulford Australia, Signarama, SignManager and Visual Technologies.
Top honour went to the Hexis team, made up of John Papadopoulos, Ian Parsonson, Jamie Stone and Dean Stone, with team Spicers, whose members were Scott Houghton, Shane Britten, Matt Hogg and Graeme Lidgerwood, the runner-up.
Thoren Hadley from Signmanager won a set of golf clubs generously donated by Sign Manufacturers Insurance Brokers (SMIB), for Nearest to the Pin on the Par 3, 16th hole and other winners were Wes Chandler (Form A Sign), Mark Prosser (KwikKopy), Michael Pryor (Corex), Andrew Sear (SMIB) and Matt Newton (Ball & Doggett).
