There was plenty of laughter and cheer at the inaugural Australian Sign & Graphic Association (Asga) SA Lawn Bowls networking evening, held at the Adelaide Bowling Club, to the sound of the Adelaide 500 supercars racing just two minutes away.

With many first timers at lawn bowling attending the evening, there was no formal scoring or trophies awarded. Instead, everyone proved a winner by getting in plenty of practice for next year’s event, where a winning team will be crowned.

Asga president, Mick Harrold, attended the event, pleased at the turnout and for the opportunity to meet with Asga members and fellow industry personnel. Harrold addressed the group at the end of the evening, highlighting the importance of the sign industry in terms of revenue, employment and innovation.

“We’re innovative, and we’re a big industry. We are bigger than we think we are,” said Harrold.

“Employees generally don’t choose signage as a career, but many that end up here stay in the industry because they love it. It’s a great industry to be involved in, and we should be proud to be a part of it and promote it more. We should tell other people that we’re proud of what we do.”

Asga thanks Orafol for its support of the event, and said it would be hosting more networking events in 2023 - details to be announced in the New Year.
