The Canon Colorado Experience event, which is the first Open House for Currie Group for 2025, will feature a Canon Colorado M5W, part of Canon’s M-series range of roll-to-roll printers which the company says offer speed, versatility and sustainability while delivering “consistently excellent” results on a wide range of subjects.

The event will be hosted by Michael Mostyn, Queensland sales account manager, Currie Group, with Vivian Kooyman, indirect channel partner manager for Canon Production Printing Australia. Currie Group says it will be an informal opportunity for “those who are not yet familiar with the advantages of Canon Colorado” to have a look at the machine in action.

“Even though the Canon Colorado range has been around for some years now, we know that many people have not yet had the chance to see it in action,” Mostyn explained.

“At Currie Group, we see our role as helping businesses to meet the challenges they are facing, while creating valuable new opportunities. The Canon Colorado M-series has the ability to do both those things for a wide range of businesses.”

The M5W is part of the Canon Colorado M-series of roll-to-roll printers, which harness the benefits of Canon’s UVgel technology, and, says the company, offer “exceptional speed, versatility and sustainability” while delivering “consistently excellent colour” on a wide range of substrates.

“The key to UVgel technology, as its name suggests, is that the ink is a gel which is heated before jetting, and then returns to its gel state on contact with the media,” Mostyn explained.

“This produces precise results, as the ink is immediately ‘pinned’ to the media, and dramatically cuts maintenance requirements as the inks – particularly white – are more stable than other inks. I think we spend about seven minutes a week on maintenance for this showroom machine.”

The M5W also features Canon’s ‘white without worry’ option, which allows users to add white ink – at what it claims are speeds up to three times faster than other comparable printers – and the enhanced FLXfinish+ technology which allows users to choose between gloss or matte finish, or even a combination of both, in one print.

“Importantly, the Canon M-series range is fully modular, which means it can be customised to suit individual business requirements, and easily upgraded in future should your needs change, or volumes grow,” Mostyn said.

“So, if you’ve heard the hype, but have never had the opportunity to see the Colorado at trade shows or other events, this Open House is the perfect chance to drop into our Demonstration Centre, have a chat with myself and Vivian, and familiarise yourself with the technology while enjoying some light refreshments.

“We’ll be running demonstrations and producing samples throughout the day, so you can see first-hand how the technology might fit into your future plans,” he added.

The Canon Colorado Experience will run from 10am-7pm on Thursday 27 February at the Currie Group Demonstration Centre at Unit 1, 87 Webster Road, Stafford. No RSVP is required, and all are welcome. Email Michael Mostyn michaelmostyn@curriegroup.com.au for further information.
