EPSON TO LAUNCH NEW SURECOLOR
Epson has unveiled its new SureColor S9160, the first in the next generation of its SureColor S-Series eco-solvent printers.
The new model succeeds the flagship SC-S80600 and SC-S80660L models, with Epson saying the new 64-inch SC-S9160 delivers “exceptional” image quality, an expanded colour gamut, productivity and a compact, “user-friendly” design.
The SC-S9160 is equipped with Epson’s latest user-replaceable 2.64” PrecisionCore MicroTFP printhead, and features an integrated temperature sensor, nozzle verification technology and nozzle replacement.
According to Epson these advancements “ensure reliable image quality and consistent colour output while significantly boosting productivity.” It says the new PrecisionCore printhead makes the SC-S9160 “a versatile and efficient” choice for signage businesses of all sizes.
The SC-S9160 uses an 11-colour ink set, including red, orange and a new green, as well as opaque white ink, which can be used on clear or dark substrates to “add versatility and enhance colour.”
Epson says this expanded ink set delivers a broad colour gamut and enables “vibrant and accurate” prints on a variety of media types, including vinyl, canvas, film, wallpaper and other roll media up to 1626 mm.
“The SureColor S-Series printers have built the standard for quality in the signage market over the years, renowned for their reliability, exceptional colour gamut, colour consistency and accuracy,” said Shuhei Sato, product manager, professional print solutions, Epson Australia. He added, “The new SC-S9160 builds on these strengths, integrating the latest imaging technologies to elevate performance to the next level. The SureColor S9160 is a complete solution for businesses looking to achieve the highest quality standards in signage printing.”
The S9160 printer has compact dimensions, a flat-top and low-profile design with a clear top window. The printer also features an auto tension control system for “high-precision” media feeding, and an included media lifter making media setup “simple and easy.”
The intuitive 4.3-inch tiltable touchscreen has animated instructions.
Approximately 30 per cent of the plastic used in its hardware is made from recycled materials, which Epson says reflects its ongoing commitment to reusing resources and reducing waste. The UltraChrome GS3 eco-solvent inks used are low-VOC, which reduces environmental footprint. The printer also offers the opportunity to install either 800 ml or 1,500 ml of any colour to best suit any print signage business’s workflow needs, while reducing plastic waste.
The SC-S9160 integrates with Epson’s management tools, including Epson Edge Print Pro Rip software and Epson Cloud Solution Port. According to Epson these tools offer comprehensive reporting, tracking and costing tools enabling businesses to streamline their operations.
The SureColor S9160 eco-solvent printer is expected to ship in Australia and New Zealand in the middle of next year.
