Asga says the the night, set for Friday 5 September, promises glamour, entertainment – and a chance to pay tribute to outgoing member and events manager, Michael ‘Punchy’ Punch.

The Gala Dinner at Daltone House in Hyde Park, Sydney, will celebrate the achievement of excellence, with the presentation of Awards across 25 categories. The winners were judged from more than 400 entries received from all across Australia, representing all facets of the industry from traditional brushwork, to printed, modern and digital signage.

Asga president Mick Harrold said the work is an impressive snapshot of what the Australian industry is capable of achieving – even in the most challenging of times.

“It’s always a great showcase of the industry and, more importantly, a chance to get together with industry friends and colleagues and to sit back, for an evening, and just appreciate the breadth, diversity and achievements of our sector – something which is more important than ever as the business environment becomes more complex and challenging than ever,” said Harrold.

The MC for the night will be Clint Paddison, who some audience members will recognise from his work on TV shows including The Footy Show, Thursday Night Live and Stand-Up Australia, guest appearances on Sunrise, 20 to 1, Ready Steady Cook, What’s Good For You and cameo on Packed to the Rafters.

“Clint is one of Australia’s most in-demand comedians, and also knows a thing or two about successfully meeting challenges himself, having built his stellar career in comedy, media and professional speaking while also developing a successful health program after his diagnosis with rheumatoid arthritis,” said Harrold.

“He is a fantastic MC and will make sure it’s a great night of entertainment, and to add to the celebrations this year, we will also be recognising the contribution of well-known Asga personality, Michael Punch.”

Punch, more commonly known as ‘Punchy’, recently retired from his role with Asga after 18 years, initially as general manager and, later, membership and events manager. During his tenure, he has built the Association from small beginnings to the strong position it enjoys today, becoming one of the most well-known and well-respected figures in the sector.

“Punchy has played a pivotal role in taking the Association to where we are today, establishing new member benefits, driving support and sponsorship from the industry’s suppliers, planning and running a range of information sessions and networking events – including these Awards - and perhaps most importantly, offering a listening ear and unstinting support to so many businesses,” said Harrold.

“While we know that all good things must come to an end, Michael is ‘one out of the box’ and we know that there are many in the industry who will welcome the chance to catch up with him, thank him for his contribution, and wish him well for his retirement… and the perfect opportunity to do that is at the Awards Dinner.”

Individual tickets to the dinner are $195 for Asga Members and $225 for non-members, and there are still a couple of tables of 10 available for those who may want to use the opportunity to recognise staff or host clients. Click here to book a table or reserve your place.

“As with any event like this, numbers are limited and we are close to closing off for bookings, so if you want to join us to recognise the winners, celebrate our industry and say thanks to Punchy, you really need to act now,” said Harrold.

This 2024 Awards are made possible by the generous support of Diamond Sponsor Currie Group, Gold Sponsors Avery Dennison, Graphic Art Mart, Kwik Kopy, Orafol, Spandex and Visual Connections, Silver Sponsors Rowmark Australia, Roland DG, SMIB and Spicers, and Bronze Sponsors Ball & Doggett, Canon Production Printing, Celmac, HP, HVG Graphics Media and Pozitive Sign & Graphic Supplies.
