Mutoh launches entry level UV-LED printers
Mutoh Australia is launching two new entry level UV-LED printers, with multi-layer printing capability, staggered dual print heads, and bespoke VerteLith rip software.
The VJ-1638UH Mark II, currently available locally, is a hybrid printer with the capability to print on rigid substrates (up to 15mm thick and 15kgs in weight) as well as roll media, while the VJ-1638UR Mark II prints on roll media only.
“The VJ-1638UH Mark 2’s previous incarnation, the VJ-1638UH, won SGIA Product of the Year in its category for almost four years in a row. It’s a really good machine and we're starting to see a stronger uptake of it in Australia,” said Russell Cavenagh, managing director, Mutoh Australia.
According to Cavenagh, a standout feature of the new flatbed printers is flexibility.
“Unlike some entry level flatbeds, these models are really good at roll-to-roll. They also have a small footprint, because when not in use, the tables can be folded up and moved out of the way. This is especially useful for print-for-pay shops that may not have a dedicated area of over 1.2 by 2.4 metres for the machine to fit into,” he said, tagging the machines as "the flatbed you have when you don't have space for a flatbed".
In addition, Cavenagh sees Mutoh’s new genuine rip software, VerteLith, which helps create dynamic output and produce impressive gradients, skin tones and vivid colours, as an important drawcard.
VerteLith includes several useful workflow tools, such as auto-layout and print multi-page PDF functions at the click of a button, and supports auto-generation of white and varnish inks, which Mutoh says create rich, textured prints without complicated steps. Additionally, auto-generation of Pantone coated/uncoated spot colours is a standard feature of VerteLith.
