MUTOH PROVIDES EMBOSSING ON FLATBEDS

Mutoh has released new files for its Vertelith software and Adobe Illustrator Texture Library that will enable embossed printing on its LED flatbed printers.

The new pre-set files are Embossed Print Environment, and are optimised for embossed printing for users of Mutoh UV LED flatbed printers, XPJ-461UF and XPJ-661UF. The company says that the service is available for Mutoh club, a website exclusively for Mutoh users.

According to Mutoh embossed printing (thick layered print) with varnish ink on the UV printers can be set up simply by loading the Print Environment (pre-set) into VerteLith. Six different surface texture combinations are available with three varying thickness levels with a gloss finish and three varying thickness levels with a matte finish.

Mutih says Texture Library, in combination with the Embossed Print Environment, provides texture patterns that are ideal for decorative printing of goods and other items with 2.5D texture.

The Mutoh UV LED printers, XPJ-461UF and XPJ-661UF, are both equipped with UV lamp local dimming control technology that Mutoh says enables fine adjustment of printed surface texture by controlling UV LED lamp irradiation. Then to achieve a gloss or matte finish, the irradiation parameters of the UV LED lamps must be fine-tuned according to the purpose.

The company says its genuine rip software VerteLith can pre-register complex settings, including irradiation parameters as print environments, which can then be exported and imported. Mutoh’s print environment has the settings for embossed printing registered, and all users need to do is download it from the Mutoh club and load it into VerteLith.

Mutoh has prepared 100 different texture patterns for embossed prints, which are compatible with Adobe Illustrator. By printing texture of 2.5D onto goods, the patterns be seen, and touched.
