PRINT2METAL PRINTS FOR THE WORLD
Specialist operation Print2Metal has been chosen to print all the award-winning entries in the World Photographic Cup onto metal, a remarkable accolade for the Melbourne-based business.
Taking place in Singapore on 17 March, the World Photographic Cup is the world’s premiere independent photo awards event. It is supported by the main photographers’ associations of Europe, the US and Asia.
One of the awards' sponsors is Chromaluxe, which among other things manufacturers the metal material onto which Print2Metal, and other metal printing businesses around the world, print photographs. It chose Print2Metal from all the businesses in the field operating in various countries to print the Gold, Silver and Bronze award winning photos, across all eight categories.
Some 24 prints are currently in production at the Oakleigh factory, and will soon be ready to be shipped to Singapore.
Maria Cosgrave, co-owner of Print2Metal, said, “We are thrilled to have been chosen to print the winning photographs onto metal."
The Chromaluxe media is metal, with or without a white printing base coating. Print2Metal prints a mirror image on its wide format printers, with sublimation inks onto sublimation papers. It then heat presses the image onto the metal for the finished effect.
Cosgrove said, “Printing onto metal results in such a terrific finish. There is no glass, no framing, it is durable, it comes in matte, gloss and metallic finishes, and it can be placed indoors or outdoors.”
The awards evening will see the cream of Australian photography travel to Singapore in the hope of winning one of the awards.
Cosgrove said, “Australia has a wonderful track record over the past years in this, the ‘Olympics’ of photography where we compete against many nations who put forward the wonderful work from their creative photographers. Team Australia were thrilled when the announcements were made recognising that we, as a nation, have shown we are real contenders for an opportunity to shine.
“The depth of talent we are able to display reflects on the depth of talent we have as a nation.
“Many of us are making the journey to Singapore to celebrate this event with all of the other countries. We wish all the best of luck. For those that can’t make the journey then the gala event will be live streamed.”
Print2Metal has been operating since 2010, owned by Cosgrove and Frank Hoekstra.
