Spicer wins the outdoor innovation award
Nigel Spicer, co-owner of display print business Cactus Imaging, took out the Excellence in Innovation Award at last night’s Outdoor Media Association industry event.
The award was given for the work Spicer has done over the past six years, driving the developing Smartskin, the environmentally-friendly recyclable billboard media.
Spicer said, “The award is tremendously satisfying, and recognition of the work the whole company has put into developing Smartskin. It is a huge step forward for the industry.”
Once it has finished its time on the billboard Smartskin is recycled into fenceposts, garden equipment, bollards and the like, saving it from going into landfill. Cactus not only developed the material, but had to come up with a new recyclable edge strip
Cactus Imaging has patented Smartskin and has now made it available to the wider industry. Spicer says, “The goal is to have it used for every billboard site.” At present Smartskin is ideal for single or double rotations, development n longer term durability is continuing.
